For those of you who don't know, I am a volunteer at the Legendary Mustang Sanctuary in Illinois. We take in mustangs, train them, and adopt them out to loving homes.

Yesterday, we went to a BLM holding facility to pick up some new prospects!

We went with the intention of adopting 2 geldings old enough to ride. We ended up with 3 yearlings.

There were a lot of horses there.

    So. Many. Yearlings.

We picked out a gray, a sorrel, and *gasp* a blue roan! We were lucky enough to find a blue roan with a good mind and promising conformation.

    Takeoff!

That would be Pretty Blue looking back at the camera. :)

We had such a good time! I am so blessed to have a place like this to learn. I have been taught so much. I hope you all enjoy looking at these beautiful mustangs. :)

I go a lot more in-depth to the whole trip on my blog. Give it a read if you're interested!

Now you need to take more pix today and LOAD US UP~!! :D:D:D with photos.

I like the little sorrel with the blonde mane and tail already, good wide wither and strong back on that one.

Alright... here come the pictures! :D

They're three peas in a pod.

The sorrel (who we are beginning to think is a minimal roan) is definitely the leader.

He's also so smart... and so hunky! Wherever he goes, I hope he ends up as a ranch horse.

The gray is named Grady and has already been adopted :woot: but he will remain at the sanctuary until his training is complete.

The red gelding is named O'Henry. The blue doesn't have a name yet, but I've been calling him Elvis ;) (We're open to name suggestions!)

I also visited two of my favorite horses, Smokey and Willow. Smokey is my project horse. Willow was my project horse, but she's been adopted by a little girl and will soon go home!

Smokey wouldn't come near me a month ago. Today, he immediately came to say hello when I walked to the round pen. :D

I am just so thankful that I get to work at the sanctuary. My horsemanship has grown *so* much.

The sanctuary ruined me for domestic horses. :D

Aw thank you! I've really been blessed! I just love getting to work with the mustangs. They're very straightforward horses, simple to train—they only take lots of patience and pettings!

I have none of my own right now. I'm on the lookout for a new horse though. Probably will end up getting a mustang. ;) My goals are to get back into barrel racing.

I love my mustang, and I agree, I'm totally ruined for domestics now. I'm picking up a new baby next year and I can't wait! Have a great time- update often.
