well, you are bound to grow and why you may know how to "gallop" a horse, there is so much more to galloping a horse on the track. You must know your poles, your fractions, and your splits. You got to learn how to rate a horse, when to quicken, the ins and outs of the gate, and how to switch leads and go past the wire.

There is so much to learn, and at 10 you are just getting started. Continue to learn, watch your races, and when you are 16 you can start working at a track.

      Good luck!

Track surfaces have definitely changed over the years. They have gotten faster and with the advent of "plastic" tracks (which I hate) who knows what's going to happen. The only records that will stand are the weights. Dr Fager raced and won and set a world record while carrying 136lbs that will never happen again.
Secretariet, he was so head and shoulders above everyone that year that I don't think any horse could have beaten him on any surface. :) I met Big Red and he was such an amazing horse. I can't wait to see the movie!

i wanted to pick your brain real quick.. i read somewhere that the track surfaces/depth changing/thinning over the years has made it possible for the old records to be broken? do you think that that is close to the truth? that if Man O War ran on the tracks that are here now that his times would be even better.. or Secritariat would have beaten horses by longer lengths???? Thanks!
