My Horse Forum
The thread on Older horses and moral obligations made me think of one of the most frequent comments I get--
"So are you going to sell your horse/colt and buy a trail/beginner/cow horse?"
The answer to this is always "No, a lot of people donated money to help me buy her and get her home, and I promised I would be her forever home--And that goes for Quest too."
And the response is:
"Oh well, that doesn't mean anything legally!"
Well, no. I guess it doesn't. A couple of the people who donated the most money/time are on my facebook, and I post pictures and updates on there, and those people share the updates to the rest of the people (Most of whom I don't know and will never know) and they love it.
I could unfriend them on facebook, or even not, and just sell her or Quest to someone else and buy a 'better' one, and no one could ever make a stink about it. I never signed a contract. I never even met any of these people, and I do not owe them a thing--I have taken good care of her...
I'm not sure how reliable this source is, but:
"Washington – The USDA announced today that new rules prohibiting the use of padded shoes, chains, action devices, and other methods of soring horses have become law. The rule states, in part “Amend the regulations to prohibit use of pads, substances, and...
So, a friend of mine that I know from FB, does halter horses on the Amateur level, but is looking to breed "up" to the top show AQHA show levels. He's been putting feelers out there for a suitable 5 panel neg and NN stud to breed his mare too. He SPECIFIED in his post.....NO NH studs, must be World Champs with World Champ babies. So, some people post options and then 2 wannabees post that with his mare he NEEDS to breed to an NH stud to get a good baby. And if it's a show prospect then a resale, why should he care if he breeds to an NH stud...meaning why should he care if the baby is NH. I was INFURIATED!!!!
Here's the response I left and the one I got from one of the yahoos:
"Just a little saddened to see a couple people trying to talk you into an NH stud Paul. IMHO, that's irresponsible breeding.....taking the chance on perpetuating a genetic mutation. You don't need NH to have a kick ass halter horse, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise."...
I have appeared on these forums as Reinsaway, jabigail96, Belgianlover, BLMustang, and possibly others? Almost always under false pretenses that I at least partially truly believed. ( Or made myself to believe? ) I abused this amazing platform, and as I'm healing I increasingly am haunted by the crushed feeling of every time I was found out, or I realized I was blatantly creating these scenarios sometimes even involving real horses with whom I had no connection, and I feel all of you deserve an explanation. I'm not asking for sympathy, or to ever be allowed back here, I just want to make things right. (Sorry for the length)
So about three years ago now, I was in a really bad spot. The psychological abuse I have suffered since birth at the hands of my mother, and later my father and stepmom (I wont go onto details) Led to me seeking any outlet that might make me feel like I really existed, drifting into full psychosis at times.. but unfortunately this often left out any sense of...
